BUYING A NEW 4WD?

Upgrade it before it's registered

If you're buying new and plan to fit accessories or tow, the best time for a GVM upgrade is before the vehicle is registered. It saves steps later and the new ratings are recognised Australia-wide from day one.

Why pre-registration is the cleanest option

  • Recognised in every state: the vehicle is certified as a second-stage manufacture with its new ratings. No state-by-state engineering later.

  • No engineer inspection after rego: the upgrade is done and certified before the vehicle hits the road.

  • Plan the build once: we can work out your final weight with the accessories you've ordered and pick the right kit.

  • Better for resale: the higher rating is part of the vehicle's record from the start.

How it works with your dealer

  1. Get a quote from us first. Give us the model and build date you're buying and we'll confirm the right kit and price.

  2. Take our quote to the dealer before you sign. Negotiate it into the deal and list the Lovells GVM upgrade, fitted before registration, as a condition on the contract of sale.

  3. The dealer delivers the new vehicle to our store before it's registered. We fit the kit.

  4. We complete the compliance paperwork and return the vehicle to the dealer to register with its new GVM.

  5. You pick up your new car, already upgraded.

Already signed? That's fine too. Give us your dealer's details and we'll arrange it with them, as long as the car isn't registered yet.

Popular new-vehicle upgrades

  • Prado 250: Touring 3650kg or Platinum 3900kg GVM, both with 6800kg GCM

  • LandCruiser 79 (J7): up to 4200kg GVM and 7400kg GCM, or 4495kg Elite on single cabs

  • LandCruiser 300, Ranger, Everest, HiLux, D-Max, BT-50, Amarok and RAM 1500: kits available, see each vehicle page

Already registered?

You haven't missed out. Most vehicles can be upgraded after registration too. In Victoria a licensed VASS engineer inspects and certifies the upgrade, and we organise this for you.
